Discoveries of New York Foodies!

Dining at the US Open 2011

Arthur Ashe Stadium

Hello Tennis Fans!!!

US Open is in full swing and there are many, many options for food! Yay!!! But I must forewarn you, if you are not prepared, you can seriously put a dent in your wallet and a few pounds on the hips! Boo!

Here’s the run down on just a few spots I’ve been too:

ACES – It is fabulous! Simple yet elegant! If you are in the mood for porterhouse steak or sushi, this is the place. BUT you must make reservations! And bring the heavy-duty credit cards because it most definitely won’t be cheap. (But so worth it!) It is located on the 2nd level of the Arthur Ashe Stadium.

Mojito Restaurant & Bar – I loved the food here. We ended up at this restaurant one night because the game was rained out and I loved the quality of the food, not to mention the sangria was amazing – not for the light drinkers, I may add, definitely highly potent! (Or maybe I am just a light weight?) If this was a restaurant somewhere outside of the Tennis Center, I would visit it often. Again, it ain’t cheap, but definitely worth the trip.

Food Court – I think this is worth some consideration this year. Usually it is just a bunch of your typical food court vendors that sell burgers and fries, but this year they out did themselves this year. I want to applaud them on diversification as the selection spans from Indian food to Mexican to Chinese to Carnegie Deli (not as great as the real Carnegie Deli in the city but I still enjoyed my sandwich) and my favorite, Southern BBQ. I highly recommend the ribs – definitely not bad for the mere $10. In addition, the burgers and fries were actually very good. Again, if this was a restaurant or take out spot somewhere in the city, I would definitely visit often.

There are many, many vendors all over the Open. Just to give you an idea of what you are going to be dealing with, a bottle of water is about $5, Cracker Jacks are $4.75, and beer is about $9. I think the Food Court by the courts and across from Armstrong Stadium, will give you the best selection and bang for your buck.

I’ll be back at the Open on Tuesday, so I’ll see if I can get more info on some good eats.

Happy eating!

Chica
