zero otto nove
Hope everyone is having a wonderful summer thus far! Here’s a place to consider next time you are out and about in the FlatIron District and in the mood for good pizza.
Friends and I went out for dinner last night and ended up at the Manhattan location of zero otto nove, named after the area code from Executive Chef Roberto Paciullo’s home town in Salerno, Italy. The restaurant is rather large and sits 240 very comfortably. It is one of three that Roberto has in NYC. It is quite obvious from the decor and staff, that nothing was spared in putting this place together. Don’t bother making a reservation because they won’t honor any.
Zero otto nove has a considerable menu, but we focused on the Neapolitan-style pizza. I am happy to say that they did not disappoint me! I’m on a constant quest for flavors and places that will impress me with their cuisine. I can definitely say zero otto nove‘s pizza has flavor! My friends and I tried the Quattro Formaggi ~you can definitely taste the gorganzola… yay! Caprese ~it was a little nicer than a traditional pizza. La Cirilo ~I just had to order this pizza because it consists of butternut squash puree, cream of truffle, mushrooms and fresh mozzarella. Who knew that pureed butternut squash would be so good on a pizza!?!?! We also ordered the Calzone Salernitano ~ all I could say when this was first brought this out was WOW! It is definitely NOT for dieters! It’s huge and stuffed with escarole, olives, capers and anchovies. LOVED IT! The individual pizza can easy feed two.
Definitely a thumbs up for Roberto!

This is great news. I had heard very good things about the (original) Arthur Avenue location but didn’t know they had opened one in Manhattan. A good Neapolitan style pizza is hard to find!
