Why Do You Do It?
Why do I blog? Although the question is only four short words, the answer can be quite complex. I originally created Bromography as a way to avoid late night telephone calls. Having a reputation as a maven of hidden NYC dining gems is not easy. I would frequently receive calls from friends inquiring about the best place to dine within 500ft of whatever random street corner on which they were standing. I thought that a 24 hour online listing of some of my favorite restaurants would allow me to get some sleep. Two years later, Bromography is much more than I had ever imagined. It has connected me to an online community full of interesting people, supported a charity I care about and impacted my offline world in many wonderful ways. However, I still receive those late night calls.
I would love to know why you blog. In fact, we are offering a giveaway to find out why. All you have to do is post a comment describing why you blog. A winning comment will be selected next Friday, June 24th.

I blog because I believe everyone should be able to cook decent food from scratch – it is healthier and often more economical like-for-like and can lead to better food habits.
I also love to sit down in front of a blank screen and have a recipe pop into my head, then comes the challenge of putting it across in a way that is both entertaining and makes people want to cook!

I blog as an exercise in writing — at least that`s how it began…but like you, I have found so many more reasons to keep going in the past 2 years. I`m sorry I missed your contest! Theresa

I started The Chocolate Cult for a few reasons. I’ll share one here because I recently blogged about this myself.
I just earned my PhD and after two years on the job market, nothing, oh sure I was getting interviews and even campus visits but there were fewer and fewer jobs each year. I was depressed and so my therapist and my family said “Do something” and I replied “I am writing again” to which they said “Obviously that isn’t enough”.
I’m a published author, I have eight fiction and one non-fiction book published. The 8th just came out today, my first ebook. For years I’d joked about starting a cult. So after my family and therapist urged me, I looked around. There was no Chocolate Cult so I made one.
The rest is history now and I hope folks are enjoying it and learning from it.
My answer isn’t complex at all…I blog to share my favorite recipes with friends and family. And I have a heck of a lot more wonderful friends since entering the blogging world
I blog because I got tired of my sister calling me every night for dinner suggestions and advice. I blog to keep a record of my food adventures and share them with curious friends and family. Most importantly, I blog because I am passionate about cooking and eating.
I do it because it helps me strengthen my skills with tasting, writing and sharing. Everytime I write I get to know my subject better and learn how to express it to people who are getting a second-hand account. As I move into a role of educator for those who want to make beer and wine at home this is become a huge asset.

I blog because it’s a great outlet for all the rambling thoughts in my head! Instead of obsessing about food in my inner monologue, it seemed more productive to find an outlet for it. And most of all, I blog because it’s FUN for me.
