Avanzare Lounge

Downtown Tampa and Channelside  are filled with concept restaurants.  Unfortunately, most seem to  have put more effort into the concept rather than the actual cooking.  On a recent trip to the area, I walked out of two elaborately themed restaurants very disappointed with the food.  I then returned to my hotel and had a good meal.

Avanzare is located on the lobby level of the Grand Hyatt hotel.  The decor is not particularly distinctive.  The only real statement it makes is “lobby of a hotel chain.”  It is, however,  clean and comfortable.  The menu has a wide selection, but is not particularly creative.

Avanzare does stand out is two key areas.  First, the food is well prepared.  Everything from the buffalo wings, calamari, burgers to the key lime pie, is tasty.  Second, the staff and service are top notch.  Wait staff is friendly, prompt and attentive.  Avanzare may not be flashy, but it definitely hits the spot.
