At Sea
If you have not made your way over to Sea in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, you are missing all the fun. Sea offers decent Thai cuisine at very reasonable prices; however, the best offering is not on the menu, it is the experience. The interesting decor, funky hip music and great vibe come together in a very compelling way, as evidenced by the long wait for a table. This is a great location for a group of friends to kick back and share a meal, but not a great locale for a quiet dinner for two. Service is adequate, but given the large crowds, it would be hard to deliver a higher level of service.
The food, while not the primary focus, is also fairly good. On a recent visit, I sampled quite a bit of the menu. The Jade Seafood Dumplings and Sea Chicken Wings were excellent starters, but the Triangle Curry Puffs were somewhat disappointing. The Queen of Siam Basil, Spicy Thai Herb Fried Rice, Crispy Duck Salad and Tamarind Whole Fish were all palate pleasing. The only negative experience was fighting off my friends for the more tasty morsels.
Gather a few friends and take in the scene at Sea, but be sure to make a reservation!
