2010 Vendy Awards
Called “the Oscars of food for the real New York” by Chef Mario Batali, the 2010 Vendy Awards are here! The event honors New York City street vendors. The Vendy’s will take place on September 25th on Governors Island, where the five remaining contestants will vie for the title of Best New York City Street Food Vendor. The awards ceremony is a fundraiser to support the Street Vendor Project of the Urban Justice Center, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that provides a voice for the thousands of people who sell food and merchandise on the streets of New York City. Tickets for the event may be purchased here.
Last year, I had a delicious time sampling the fare of all the finalists, and ultimately predicted the winner. I expect that this year will be no different. The videos below will allow you to get to know the finalist. If you have had the opportunity to try out their food, please vote for you favorite in the poll below.

Sounds like a fun and great event. I wish I could make it to go there. Looks like a a tough competition, everything looks awesome.
How fun! I would love to have the opportunity to sample all of those foods.
