Happy Pound Cake Day!
March 4th is National Pound Cake Day!! Pound cake is a dense yellow cake that is traditionally made with a pound each of butter, sugar, flour, and eggs, or with equal weights of each of these ingredients. Almost everyone has tasted this simple cake at least once; however, pound cake is one of those common foods that is often under appreciated. So, do not forget that a basic pound cake recipe can go from simple to sublime, if executed well. A pound cake can also allow a baker to show his or her creative genius. Take a look at some of the creative recipes listed below in honor of the pound cake.
- Orange Pound Cake by The Hungry Mouse
- Blueberry Pumpkin Pound Cake by Grace Laced
- Triple Citrus Black Pepper Pound Cake by The Spiced Life
- Lavender Lemon Pound Cake adapted by Almost Slowfood

Happy Pound Cake day to you too! A little belated, admittedly, and I’m sad to say I did not enjoy any pound cake on the big day. I clearly need to update my calendar so I stop missing these excuses for eating.
Thanks for the shout out. I am off now to check out some of those other yummy looking creations!
My friend and I tried all six recipes for a tea party. They were all delicious!
