Today is National Cheese Lover’s Day in the United States. The US is the top producer of cheese in the world, with Wisconsin and California leading the states in production, while Greece and France are number 1 & 2 in cheese consumption per capita, respectively. There are thousands of varieties of cheese in almost every culture and time period. The oldest evidence of cheese making is from approximately 4000 B.C. in the middle east.
There are thousands of delicious uses for cheese, but my favorite is rather simple. For me, there is nothing better than Irish cheddar on a slice of fresh bread, still warm from my grandmother’s oven. Simply delicious! I would love to learn about your favorite cheese dish.
