Foodie Friends January 2010

The Foodie Friends team has continued its mission of empowering fellow foodies to improve their lives.  This month, we are raising money for Liliana Sinacay Arimuya’s traditional food service business in Peru.   Liliana has been in business for five years, and is seeking an 8 month loan to improve her dining area.  If you are interested in loaning her as little as $25, you may get more details hereDon’t forget to register as a Foodie Friend!

Here’s an update on previous loans:

  • Our team made a loan to Simone Mafoe for her ice cake business in Samoa on Christmas Day 2009.  The loan term is 14 months.
  • Gonchigsuren Gunjidmaa has repaid 4% of the loan for her butchery in Mongolia.  There are 24 months left on the loan term.
  • Nancy Kaku has repaid 40% of the loan for her fishing business in Sudan.  There are 8 months left on the loan term.
  • Maria Cristina Yupanqui Chambilla has repaid 75% of the loan for her catering business in Peru.  There are 2 months left on the loan term.

      I love the Kiva micro-loan concept! I just re-loan the same funds as soon as it is paid back, so it is better than a one time donation to a charity.
